Is it possible to run the CPU frequency independently of the RAM frequency?

ie can I stick my PC-100 ram in a motherboard with the 815 chipset and run the cpu at 133 Mhz ?

thanks

You would be running at 4:3 ratio.

thanks. what precisely does 4:3 ratio mean?

besides the ratio, will the system run stable without any problems ?

if you have some very good PC100 ram it may take it but as ageneral rule teh answer is no, think of it as getting a 1ghz CPU and overclocking it to 1.33ghz with no voltage or cooling change.....

if at first you don't succeed , destroy all evidence that you ever tried...

there should be a setting in the bios that will run the memory at 33mhz less than the fsb that is what is ment by 4:3 ratio also.

That's right. Your processor is running at 133mhz bus, while your RAM is at 100mhz. So, the ratio of 133:100 is 4:3.
