hardware getting bigger

I wonder what´s the deal with modern hardware standards getting bigger everyday.
I remember my first computere experiece with a atari 130, a keyboard with a lot of connections in the back. Now I have a big atx case, with a very noisy fan, a p2, bigger than my older p 120 on a baby at case.

Shouldn´t these thing be getting smaller?

Well... nowadays, a "slim PC" is the smallest a desktop would get - those computers with only the basics and a micro ATX board.
I guess it's because of all the extra things (e.g. drives) and performance we desire that the system ends up to be so big.

Ah the American spirit - bigger and bigger houses and bigger and bigger SUV's...

or maybe I just got tired of dropping those little screws as I was trying to fit a screwdriver in between the other cards and the cables... I haven't needed a needle nose pliers since I started buying full tower cases and I don't miss those fun times a bit.

I like the Houses in the U.S, Houses over here in hte UK are small and expensive. (esp. in london).

I guess the performance demand from the end users are rising much faster than what technology can cope. Besides, we demand bigger cases because most of us here want 'good airflow', 'water cooling', 'better accessibility' etc.
