dvd drive http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-12XR [...] pd_sim_e_7 (for this im wondering if it will even work with the current setup)

If you insist on Blu-Ray that's fine but otherwise I'd get a $18 DVD burner and put that money into getting the best GPU you can get for the money.

It's an excellent start. Drop the sound card - that is not needed when the onboard audio on your motherboard will do.

I would actually downgrade the case as it's kind of overkill for this build (not to mention my general distaste for Thermaltake) to something like a Cooler Master HAF 912 or a Corsair Carbide 400R:

- HAF: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119233
- Corsair Carbide 400R: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139008

Invest that difference in upgrading your GPU to a 560TI: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130604

16GB of RAM is not needed for a gaming system, and watch the tall heat sinks if you plan to you use a Hyper 212 Evo which is an excellent cooler. Get this for RAM instead: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148544

Everything G-unit said, although it seems noboady has noticed you haven't chosen a PSU yet. I'd recommend a decent brand (Corsair, Antec, XFX, Seasonic, OCZ) 650W 80+ bronze at least, preferably a 750W if you plan on overclocking.

Yeah I totally missed that there wasn't a PSU included. All those nice components wouldn't be good without something to power them.

Something like this would work: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139020

also do all the SATA cables and whatnot come with the parts or do i have to buy them seperately, and where can i buy them from amazon?

No need to buy separate cables - your motherboard should come with at least 3 or 4 minimum. Your PSU will have all the connector cables built into it so that will eliminate the need to buy them.
