Hello,
I was wondering, can I use the current heatsink and fan that came with the Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 on a Intel Core 2 Duo E6550. My CPU is too slow nowadays and wanted an upgrade. My worry is that since I'm upgrading from a 1.8ghz 800fsb to a 2.3ghz 1333fsb would the CPU overheat with the E4300 heatsink and fan?

You can try it; use a free monitor program such as coretemp, which will monitor both cores of the 6550; if the temp doesn't go much above 50c under load while gaming, etc, then your old heatsink should be fine.

Will run a little hotter but both cpu's are 65w @ 0.85-1.5v.

If this was, me spend £20 and buy a Hyper 212 Evo and overclock.

MY E5400 @ 2.7ghz is overclocked to 3.6GHZ with a 212+ and rarely breaks 45c on 100% load.
