What video card should I get? E8400 3.0ghz CPU, 550W PSU

I'm in the market to upgrade my video card, as well as maximize and optimize my memory. My main concern here is the video card aspect. I, like everyone else, want the most bang for my buck without upgrading the CPU/PSU. I figured I would come to the more experienced folk on here and ask.. with a 550W PSU, and E8400 not OC'd, what would you all recommend I pursue video card wise?

  1. Woops, forgot to mention running at 1680x1050 resolution.

I do casual gaming on here, sometimes WoW, mostly Second Life with the wife, and lately it's been lagging the hell out of my PC with a 7600GT and 4GB ram @ 800mhz, so upgrading the memory to 1066mhz and 8GB, and curious of the video card to go with.

I leave the other games to my 360.
  2. Though a 5850 may be hard to find i see now on newegg.
    Maybe go for a GTX460.
  3. Oh, and 6G ram is more than enough.

I think a 6850 or a gtx 460 is very good price and performance for that resolution. Get which ever one is cheaper.

    +1
  6. For Those Games A GTX460/560 Is Overkill, Id Go For A 550
  7. don't buy a 550, its a POS for the price. and will not be powerful enough for that resolution.
  8. ^+1, and you never know what games he will play on that gpu, even with the 360 as competator. ( which i don't think it is actually )
  9. 6870 so you have no regrets or the GTX460 (not v2 or SE) or 6850.
