Hi,

I have the following setup and I just wanted to know if the temperatures are as-expected for this configuration.

Intel i5 3570K (Stock)
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus (1 Fan)
Antec P280 (2 Top fans, 1 Rear)

I ran a Prime95 Blend test for one hour and these are the results according to RealTemp and HW Monitor:

Real Temp 3.70
Core 0, 1, 2, 3 : 48, 52, 50, 53 - Minimum
Core 0, 1, 2, 3 : 62, 67, 63, 66 - Maximum
Core 0, 1, 2, 3 : 62, 57, 61, 58 - Average

HW Monitor
Package Temp: Core 0, 1, 2, 3: 60, 28, 67

Thanks very much for your advice/feedback.

I wouldn't be worried. My 3570k under full load at stock clocks runs around the exact same temps with a hyper 212 evo and one fan in push setup. This is in a Rosewill Challenger U3 case without a gpu in it (can't afford one yet, and the intel HD 4000 is working pretty well for my needs so far) so there's plenty of air for the Hyper 212. At idle it stays in the low 30's, and when I push the HD 4000 graphics as hard as I can with Mass Effect 2, the temps max around 55-56. I hope this helps.

Thanks very much for your reply.

Well, at idle in the BIOS the Idle Temp is approx: 28-30C.

At idle, in RealTemp, Core 0 to Core 3 (as I type this message and install something in background) is: 27, 26, 28, 28 (Celsius) to 31, 30, 28, 30.

I was just worried because under P95, my max is 66-67C, and someone said that with this cooler, I should be getting 60C.

Presently, I have only three fans in the system. Would adding two more at the front (blowing towards the rear) improve things?

Those idle temps are fine and 67°C max is not bad for prime run. If you just assembled then it takes a few thermal cycles for the paste to settle and usually temp drops a degree or two after that. Increased airflow will usually help but then again 3 fans should create good airflow if configured right, two more should though only improve it.
Couple of good articles about cooling and airflow http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/cooling-airflow-heatsink,3053.html

Hi, Rolli,

Thanks very much. I didn't assemble it. I purchased this build from NCIX, which they assembled and I believe they ran P95 and Memtest, according to the work order.

They built a system for us in the past, and did a great job. Same here too. Case was clean, cables routed properly, etc.

I wasn't aware of the settling aspect. Received the system only Thursday, so still quite new.

I have an Asus P8-Z77-V Pro. Would you recommend I install the AI Suite? I've read mixed reviews, but wondering if it's really beneficial for the system and fan control? Or should I just leave that to the BIOS?

I have a Antec P280. 2x120mm on top blowing outward (set on low). 1x120mm at Rear, blowing outward (also set on low).

From what I can tell the 120mm on the heatsink is blowing across the heatsink towards the rear. Though to be honest, I can feel airflow on both sides of this fan, which has me slightly confused if it supposed to be:

case<fan - - - <hyper 212<fan - - - case

Any advice?

Thanks!

I have the same exact setup. Except for the CPU fan, I have the hyper 212 EVO and no gpu installed yet. I rarely do stress test but wanted to compare my temp to yours. I only ran prime95 blend for 10 minutes. Here are my results

max temp - 55c
min temp- 44c
Avg temp - looks like it was around 50c most of the time
Ambient temp - around 23c
Idle temp was around 27c

Your temp seems fine, I think my cpu temp would probably average around 60c after an hour of stress test.

On the p280 there should be 3 fan switches in the back, I set them all to high. Also there's a really nice in depth review of the p280 by pudgetsystems. According to them, the most optimal cooling for p280 is using 2 top fan, 1 rear, and 1 mid.

Here's the link if you want to check it out.

If the cpu is not overclocked, I'd say those are high temps. Check to see if the heatsink and everything is installed correctly. Minimum idle temp should not be in the 50's, should be 27-35 if you are not overclocked.

Who said idle temps were in the 50's?

Thanks. I've read two opinions on the extra fans. Some people put them in the very front (behind the door of the P280) and others put them mid-case.

Not sure what's better.

Hi, everyone,

I have a P280 w/Cooler Master Hyper 212 in a push configuration (out the rear) w/default fans of the case.

For the other P280 owners out there, if you were going to add extra fans would you place two in the very front of the case (behind the door) or two midcase, just after the HD cage?

Thanks.
