As the tittle says guys.

The new AMD GPUs has taken the world record in Unigine Heaven DX11 Xtreme Preset, a benchmark dominated byt nVidia series and specially GTX 580. In a easy way at just at stock cooling the GTX 580 was defeated by this GPU that seems would be the new king in the GPU market.

Really Impressive!

so what does the 1.57 point differential really demonstrate? besides of course that AMD now holds the record.

The AMD card is a stock reference design and pulled that number. The MSI GeForce GTX 580 Lightning that is in second place has MANY modifications beyond the original reference design to get to the clocks and overclocks that it can perform. That said, when special 7970's come out, they will have a substantial lead in an apples to apples comparison.

See it deeply. I think it only need small modification and it's stock cooler. You will see that it will break the world record when they use aftermarket coolers. Also You can see that it See the clocks, I think it can be higher...

Yesterday’s generation got beat by the newest. Still a great advancement by amd and yet still has room for improvement.

But..

The fairness battle will begin with nvidias arrival of their gtx 6/780 whichever one it is they’re sticking with.

That GTX580 has Double Clocks on it O.o and it was STILL beaten by a Reference OC'd 7970 - WTF.

"777/1,002 (stock) @ 1,560/3,000/1,365 MHz" - GTX580
vs
"925/1,375 (stock) @ 1,180/1,610 MHz - Radeon HD7970

Can anybody say: "Who's your daddy?" ;)

Thought 1 point isn't really much of a win against the previous WR holder.

Its not, unless the previous winner had a custom GTX580 with double clocks on it xD

Cant wait for Custom 7970s...wonder if we'll get a Direct CU III for it *drools* or a Twin Frozr IV...

Loved the news! Competition is ALWAYS benefit for us.
Now let's hope Nvidia pull a better card, then AMD, then Nvidia.. etc :)
