Hello, i am building my first computer ever.
the specs are

Intel Core i5 2500k Processor

8gb (2x4) gb of corsair venegance ddr3 ram

EVGA motherboard with SLI support

two EVGA GTX 550ti superclocked GPU's (linked using SLI)

LG 24x dvd drive

thermaltake overseer RX-i case

Corsair HX850W power supply.

My main question i have is, will the power supply be able to support the rig? also, do i have to buy thermal compound for the processor heatsink or will it come with it?

thanks.

yep that power supply will easily handle those parts, and yes the bundled cooler with the 2500k does come with thermal paste pre-applied.

I would however recommend getting something like a 560 ti (just one, or even look at pricier cards if you can afford it) now, and then SLI it with another card in the future. SLIing two 550 Ti's should give about the same performance as one 560 Ti, except it carried the risk of micro-stuttering and higher heat and power consumption.
