Also what kind of performance can I expect?

Before I was running a HD 5750 with an AMD Phenom ii X2 at 3.4GHz (dual core) with just 4gb RAM. This set up could run all my games on ultra at 40+ FPS

yes, but in gaming, bulldozer is so much worse than intel, it wouldn't even be that much of a cpu upgrade

Picking an AMD CPU at the present time is NOT a smart idea when Intel's CPU's easily outperform.

a 4-core bulldozer can only beat an i3-2120 when it's overclocked, but there's absolutely no upgrade path.
i5-2400 does better than any bulldozer or phenom
