first wish u a happy new year in advance.

my uncle bought the rig with i5. and he is now decided to buy a 3d display to watch 3d movies in home. he is not a gamer so I suggested him a cheaper Passive display instead of expensive active shutter display.

budget is $300 usd.

his rig specs are

I5-2500K,
ASUS P8H67 M-PRO,
CORSAIR VENGENCE 16 GB(4X4)
HDD 1X500 GB , 1X1 TB HDD. and 1 2tb hdd (total 3.5 tb)
GPU GTX 560TI OR 6950 (HE WILL BUY AFTER JAN 10 2012)
PSU CORSAIR GS 800
CASE CM ELITE 371
PRESENT DISPLAY.

he uses present display in home for now after he buy that 3d panel he will use that 3d panel as 3d and 2d and present one should be he will use it in his office.

my point is. which passive 3d panel will u suggest.

and the viewsonic one is waste according to anandtech. so which one is good.

thank you.

Solution
Why doesn't he use his present display itself for 3D?
He can do it using the Nvidia 3D display settings. Not necessarily using the Nvidia 3D equipment. Just Software based.

thanks for reply, but how is it possible?

Open the Nvidia Control Panel
perf_group_control_panel.jpg

If you have the complete drivers installed
CPScreen.jpg

You'll find manage 3D Settings there you can choose the Software version of the 3D or the Nvidia 3D Vision settings for the other kit.
Since you don't have the kit and would like to try it out, use the software method.
Make sure you have a pair of Red-Blue Glasses on you or the Polarized glasses.
Start a game like Tombraider Underworld with the 3D on and you'll see the whole new world ....

If you want the complete guide, you can read thru this, forget the make and model of the monitor and the GPU, yours are fine, just follow the steps in the software side

thanks a lot pal, he had these glasses, does this work with these glasses

http://www.ebay.in/itm/REALD-3d-glasses-polarised-glasses-real-cinema-/130622030848?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item1e69ae0400

i always do experiments in new ways. but i didn't tried this one :D :D :D

Yes, they should work if you choose the right kind of settings in the 3D Software and have the right player to play the stuff.
There are like 3 or 4 kinds of 3D Tech out there, those glasses match one of them. You'll be asked what kind of 3D do you want to use in the Nvidia settings , try them all, or then do some reading about the 3D techs and choose accordingly.

thanks for answering immediatly pal, and what is the right kind of setting for them, I am using Power dvd 11 ultra,(genuine) those glasses are meant for polarized viewing, but in my player there is mentioned micro polarized with row interlieve do u have any idea about that.

Nope, no idea about , like I said you'll need to try them all out. There are also a few other players out there which handle 3D really well you'll need to try them out too.
Just google for 3D media Players.
I've used this and it's ld simple and very very multi functional
http://www.berezin.com/3d/stereoscopic_player.htm

My suggestion would be to watch and see the 3D movies thru the anaglyphic glasses first, they're cheaper and a very basic level of 3D. But work beautifully. then if you feel you need anything better or would like to continue with the 3D stuff, you could invest in better and for more expensive equipment.
3D does not suit everyone, it can cause a lot of other stuff with prolonged use, so it's safer to first try it out step by step and see if it suits you.
