i would replace the HDD with t a bunch of SSD hard drives in RAID 0 to make up 2TB and get 4 24" monitors. and why stick with onboard audio? add a HT omega or asus xonor card with a 5.1 sound system connected via optical or analog outputs
areca ARC-1880ix-24-4G PCI-Express 2.0 x8 SATA / SAS Controller Card with 4GB ECC Cache
12x OCZ Talos R Series 800GB 3.5" SAS 6Gb/s MLC Enterprise Solid State Disk TRSAK352-0800
RAT 9.
Logitech K800 Black USB RF Wireless Slim Illuminated Keyboard
USB WIFI card.
Sharp AQUOS 60" 1080p 120Hz LED TV
+ Maybe some kind of Wireless HDMI.
Hmm am i missing anything here? Incompatibility problems (AFAIK they are all compatible).
This would make a monster media converter of a computer and a decent gaming machine...however I was looking for overall performance and not just gaming.
lol xeon for gaming, maybe idk. To be honest, my dream pc isnt that expensive, i would probably settle for a 6990, 12 gb of ram, and a huge projector with a crazy ass soundsystem, i would cry if that ever happened.

I mentioned this wasn't SPECIFICALLY FOR GAMING. It was meant for for an "all around" system, that should be highly stable and responsive. By the way the xeon I mentioned is a 6 core CPU with HT, which makes it a 12 core + 12 HT computer. I know the Xeon is slightly slower than the I7 3960X, but who's going to notice with 12 cores?
