I bought a GEN 3 Mobo which is doesn't have the x79 chipset, now that I look at it, I wish I just waited on building a new computer, but anyways, what's done is done... This is the exact board I bought: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168....
I plan on getting the HD 7970 along with a 1000 watt cpu just in case I decide to crossfire later on in the future. I also have an i5 2500k. Anyone have any ideas how the system will run?

your url takes me to a list of 125 results. which motherboard did you buy? if it's an h61, and if you are using a core i5 2500k on it, you will not be able to overclock the cpu. and h61 doesn't support crossfire.
according to this page, the pcie 3.0 bandwidth makes no difference in gaming, so far. it increases performsnce in gpu computing, though.
i've never heard of a 1000w mainstream desktop cpu. what are your full specs?

tom's used a core i5 2500k with a p67 motherboard. you can see how the 7970 performed with a sandy bridge system.
hopefully you'll see more in depth info when the card debuts on jan. 9th.
the asus z68 mothebroard looks good - specwise. look up it's review.
the pcie 3 stuff work only with an ivy bridge cpu. with a core i5 2500k, the pcie 3 slots will run at pcie 2 speed.
