Same opinion I gave you in the other thread. I think its noisy and barely good enough @3.7GHZ (Phenom II 980 stock setting) but yes it is adequate. Like I said, its just noisy as tiny high RPM fans tend to be.

Best solution

Stock fans in general are less than ideal but the ones for the AMD Phenom II CPUs are especially so.

I was afraid to use it because of the amount of tension that was being placed on the AM3 plastic bracket.

I would definitely go for an aftermarket fan.

I used this on a friend's AMD Build:

It worked out really good.

Just keep in mind that if you have ram with high heatsink fins you may have some clearance issues.

The Cooler Master EVO is another good one but it is a bit too large / heavy for my liking.

The hyper plus and evo 212s are almost identical, but the evo's are slightly better, very slightly.

As far as the ram clearance. I can confirm that Corsair Vengeance height does not interfere with the 212 evo, 212 plus, or hyper n520.

It is a good product (cheap too) however just like the EVO or any other cooler with a Vertical 120mm fan it is going to take up a lot of space. I personally don't like it because it makes it harder to work around in your case.

I have a cooler similar to this:

Very popular heatsink. As you can see it has nearly 5,000 reviews on newegg.

The 92mm fan is silent and because it is 92mm it cools well yet still leaves a decent amount of space.

Here is a picture of mine:

Alright, I'll have to look around for a fan that would fit well in my case, although I do have a bit of extra room, so a 120mm might be okay....

Either way, I'll see how the stock cooler works first and base it on that....

Thanks so much!

How about Patriot G2? if you know... It looks smaller than the vengeance, but I could be wrong....
