Hey,

My current PSU seems to always be running under full load with roughly 40 - 60 db depending on how far my db meter is from the PSU.

Is that normal with my current specs;

i5-3570K
Sapphire 7870 OC
Asrock Extreme 4

Corsair 500R
Hyper Evo 212+

All specs are as they were bought, no OC has been done.

Solution
If its a faulty Unit, they should replace it. If you can't get it replaced then you could opt for,
Antec HCG 620
Antec Neo 620
Antec EarthWatts-Green 650
Antec TruePower 650

All these Antec Units are Excellent!
My personal choice wold be the HCG 620. :)

Is 40-60 not normal? Its not too loud but it just seems absurd to have it this loud with my current specs.

Also, I brought it down to my retailer to check but it was fine out of the case as it was normal fan noise due to the place being slightly packed with customers. So, I am assuming they won't be changing it for me but I was wondering why it is this loud ;(

Oh ok, thank you for that! I will take my whole tower this time to my retailer and see what they say.

I used my iPhone's app to determine it's DB level so it may not be accurate but if I put it about 1 m away, it is saying 40-50 dbs.

Would you have any other suggestion for a PSU if my retailer says it is normal? I am willing to buy a new one if they don't plan on refunding me.

PSU is on 2nd page, furthest to the right column

Would you suggest me taking in the whole chassis to get it checked just cause I took my PSU in once but it was quiet and the attendant there said it is normal sound level. I have a feeling it's the controller being faulty.

Yeah, you can take your whole case to your retailer.
you can also try corsair's support to request an RMA

The TX650v2 is a good PSU, try and get it replaced & save some bucks :D

Sorry mate just one last question, the noise is not over the top. But the air intake is audible, even when I placed my tower on the floor next to me, reckon its worth giving it a shot to try check if they believe its a problem?

I just have a feeling the attendant will say it is normal as he did last time.

If your iphone app records the noise from the PSU @40db or more, from a distance of at least a foot, Then show that to your retailer & let him know that according to corsair, the noise level shouldn't exceed 26db & you can rightfully request an RMA.
Maybe get it repaired or replaced.

I was about to pull the trigger on the Corsair TX650 v2 until I read about its noise (problems). Could you please elaborate on why you would choose the HCG 620 over the other Antecs? My local retailer sells it for a good price so I might get it.
