Hey guys,

I have been using my current rig for ages now, nearly 2 years and it is begining to slow down in some games/applications. I was just looking for an average price upgrade on www.overclockers.co.uk and they have some sweet gaming bundles. I just want to get your opinion and maybe a few suggestions regarding the bundles that are at that website. I don't know if you guys have ever purchased from that site but i have and they offer great service/products :p . So here is my current build:

Graphics Card: HIS iceq4 4850 turbox
Memory: 2GB corsair xms2 DDR2 (x2) (total 4GB)
CPU: E8400 core 2 duo @ 3.00GHZ
PSU: Corsair TX650w
Motherboard: P5Q PRO TURBO
Soundcard: Onboard
HDD: 1TB and 500GB ( forgot the models )

So what do you guys think? would you recommend a decent bundle for me? i play a few recent PC games and am currently programming but that won't effect the build.

So yeah, thats pretty much it guys. Thanks a lot for your time Hope to hear from you soon

Cheers :sol:

What applications do you notice a slow down with?. What's your budget? I've checked out the bundles not really impressed. The motherboard there are using is only 4 phases, not good for overclocking.

I agree there - I would not recommend any pre-bundled systems because most of them include PSUs that are flat-out junk.

Knowing a budget would help to solidify what you're able to upgrade.

He doesn't need a PSU, I think he was referring to these deals http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=43&catid=2053 . His best option would probably be a motherboard/ram/cpu/gpu swap. On amazon the extreme3, 8gn dd3 ram, i5-2500k, with an coolermaster evo is 330 pounds just not sure how VAT works.

hi and thanks for your quick reply!

Games, Visual studio 2010 ultimate and the OS in-general. I am running windows 7 64 bit and it tends to slow down when having many processes running. the CPU usage goes to 100% very easily. I have formatted the system recently just to see if i see a performance boost but was in vale. The components that i was looking to change regarding my situation where the motherboard of course, CPU, GPU and a RAM upgrade.

Please correct me if i am wrong :)

Cheers! : :)

Yeah you are right, hand picking individual components is always the optimal solution but for an ameture it is somewhat of a difficulty to spot bottlenecks and compatibility issues.

As for my budget i will be happy spending 420GBP (500euros). but i always exceed my budget for a longer investment.

Cheers!

Hi and thanks for your reply!

yes that was the section i was referring to, the gaming bundles. what do you think ? :)

as for vat, it is calculated as 18% on the total price. it is a TAX.

Cheers!

I live in Canada and I don't really have the feel of what a good deal is. It seems that everything is about 40% more expensive, and the U.S is even cheaper. I was looking at this deal http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-080-OE&groupid=43&catid=2053&subcat= . The CPU is great obviously, Not a big fan of the A50 would go with the evo. The ram is 1.65v, 1.5v is what I would recommend for SB and it's 2X2 gb I would go with 4gb or 4X2. And the motherboard is a poor overclocker with only 4 phases and and four pin cpu connector, although it's probably enough for 4.4 ghz.

What resolution are you gaming at?

The problem with that ASUS board is that it's 16x/4x. If you want to crossfire in the future it will slow it down dramatically.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/INTEL-Core-i5-2500K-ASUS-P8Z68-V-LX-CORSAIR-8GB-2X4GB-DDR3-1600-/120835659161?pt=UK_Motherboards_CPUs&hash=item1c225dd599#ht_4790wt_1139

same deal $100 cheaper

Which bundles are you looking at the fx-4100 ones?

i was looking at the http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-063-OE one. What do you think? i chose the 8GB genesis 1600MHZ.

Is that a good gaming bundle? Also could you guys recommend a decend graphics card?

Thanks!
