I am getting close to pulling the trigger here on the D70 and a lens.
I like the specs on this lens:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/co [...] 219&is=USA

However, I was curious as to whether or not this lens is "fully
comatible" with the D70. It doesn't specifically say that it is,
however it lists the cameras with which it is fully comaptible - the
D70 is not listed, but it gives the caveat "(or any newer model)
cameras". Does this include the D70?

Regards,

Ben

PLEASE KINDLY DISREGARD!!!! And no flmaes, please!!! It does state
that it is compatible (fully) with the D70 at the top of the page, not
in the features section.

series (or newer) cameras

I see the D70 listed. Maybe your reading too fast.

It says:
Important Notice!
Vibration Reduction works only with N65, N75, N80, F100, F5, D70, D100 &
D1 series (or newer) cameras.

That actually says nothing about FULL compatibilty as in whether the 3D
matrix metering is usable but I suspect that it is.

I doubt that it's either 'comatible or 'comaptible', though <g>.

This is an AF lens. All AF lenses will work with full capability on the
D70.

Not quite...
If they are prior to "D" lenses, then some flash metering functions, and
3D matrix metering will not work - not that it makes any difference to
most people.

If you get it and don't like it, I'll take it off your hands for a
couple hundred dollars. ;o)

I'm waiting for the 18-160 VR micro version to come out for $290 after
rebates. That's what I like about getting old. You can nod off and
have a nice little dream, almost at will.

It's a G lens.
It works.

In point of fact, the VR function will not work on my N90s because the
camera does not support VR. I'll probably buy a VR lens one of these days,
but it won't be that one. Now, when they start selling a 300 f4 with VR,
then I may just sit up and take notice.

But the original question was whether it will work on a D70. It does.

Go back and read the ad. The D70 is specifically mentioned as one that
it will work with. If you have any questions call NikonUSA at 800-645-6687
