I'm planning to upgrade my current HP pavillion DV6700 laptop's CPU.

It currently has a t5450 @ 1.66ghz 2MB 667 FSB (merom) socket P

I know i can upgrade to any of the following Socket P (MO) CPUS 667fsb or 800fsb ( santa rosa chipset)

Wikipedia says...

Die size: 143 mm2 (Merom), 111 mm2 (Merom-2M)
Steppings: B2, E1, G0, G2 (Merom), L2, M0 (Merom-2M

If i have a (MO) CPU can i upgrade to a CPU that's not a (MO), preferably the T7300 ( b2 stepping)

My question is pretty much, can i put in a cpu with a different stepping.

any input would be fine

You will need to check hp support cpu list. HP typically locks the bios to operate with only a select few cpu's and others will not work.

I do know that a bios update added support for T8100, T8300, T9300, and T9500. (stepping won't matter) If that helps.

I cant see ebay at work. Make sure its 35w and 667 or 800mhz fsb and you should be fairly good to go.

It is, we went over this in another thread and I went and looked at the service manual to be sure, but that CPU is compatible, according to the service manual.
