Hello everybody,

I'm buying my new PC. I've chosen all the system, except the motherboard and the power supply. I need help on this.

CPU: i7-3930k
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000): Total 16 Gb
SSD: Intel 520 240 Gb
GPU: 2 x XFX HD 7970 Black Edition DD

I'm having a hard time trying to find a decent MB and power supply for this configuration.

Approximate Purchase Date: Next week

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg

Country: USA

Overclocking: Definitely yes

SLI or Crossfire: Yes

Monitor Resolution: Full HD

If you guys suggest any change in the configuration above, be my guest!

Thanks!

Well none of the new X79 boards are inexpensive but the GIGABYTE GA-X79-UD3 looks reasonable

I personally would go for the ASUS Rampage IV Formula if budget permitted

With at least a 750 wattt power supply. I have used the SeaSonic X750 Gold and have nothing but good things to say about this unit. There are cheaper but none better in my opinion.

And if you don't mind semi-modular and are on a budget then the XFX PRO750W XXX Edition is a good deal

"on a budget" and CF 7970 don't exactly go together :p

Non-overclocked 7970s in CF will pull 400W by themselves, peak, WHILE GAMING. Max draw would be over 500W.

That's not as bad as some, but because the average system draw is going to exceed 400W while gaming I would think something that can deliver 67 amps or more on the 12V rail would be best.

Proximon: You are right. It's not worth saving some bucks here. The Seasonic seems nice...

tinmann: What about the Asus Rampage IV Extreme? Too much?

Thanks guys!
