intel core2duo E8400..3.0 ghz
psu..cooler master extreme power plus 460w
mobo..asus asus p5kvm
ram..2x2 gb ddr2 transcend
optical drive..lg dvd writer
hdd..seagate 3gb/s 500gb
with this specs before 9600gt was used since the card died it was decided to fit a asus 6850 into it..the doubt is with this psu can a 6850 fit into this specs

I can't see why the PSU should have a problem... a 6850 is going to pull less that 140 Watts under load, its not that much extra. Cooler master generally makes good supplies and the rest of his build is hardly high power. the recommended is 450 watts which is always higher than needed. why should it be a problem?

what's the amp rating on your 12 bolt rail? or your specific model

yes it has a 6 pin connector ..it was running a 9600gt as the card is dead i decided to a get a 6850..i saw in tomshardware gaming pc antec 380d green has two 12v rails and 14a it was very much sufficient to run 6850 so the cm psu is has 2 12v rails and 16a on both rails so will my psu can run 6850..amd says that 6850 doesnt need a 6 pin connector jut a 500w or more psu with a pcix16 lane and what about bottlenecking will the 6850 bottlenecks core2duo 3.00ghz processor

where did amd say that the 6850 doesn't need a pcie connector?

you need a 6 pin on the psu for it to work but it is the most powerful card that only required only 1 6 pin connecter. the 6850 will run on a 430 psu as it is one of the most power efficient cards on the market. also bottleneck isn't going to happen much. even today not much uses more than 2 threads and a c2d is going to be enough for the cpu as the 6850 isn't top of the line.

but at the official amd link the requirements for the cards as

PCI Express® based PC is required with one X16 lane graphics slot available on the motherboard
500 Watt or greater power supply recommended
Certified power supplies are recommended. Refer to http://ati.amd.com/certifiedPSU for a list of Certified products
Minimum 1GB of system memory
Installation software requires CD-ROM drive, a keyboard, a mouse, and a display
DVD playback requires DVD drive and a DVD
Blu-ray™ playback requires Blu-ray drive and a Blu-ray disc
For an AMD CrossFireX™ system, a second AMD Radeon™ HD 6800 Series graphics card, an AMD CrossFireX™ Ready motherboard and one AMD CrossFireX™ Bridge Interconnect cable is required
it says it doesn't require a 6 pin connector..

in the cooler master psu calculator it said that my psu is okay..one thing my psu is 3 years old but it was capable of running a 9600gt..i found the 9600gt is dead for the following reason..when i switch on my cpu with 9600gt the cpu is not even switching on but by removing the card when i switch on the cpu the cpu is running fine through that i found that my gfx is dead..
