Hi, I'm looking to find an aftermarket CPU heatsink/fan on newegg, and I've noticed that under "Compatibility" there are two subcategories, "CPU Socket" and CPU Support". My CPU is listed under the compatible sockets, but not under CPU support. What does CPU support mean and will it be a problem if my CPU is not listed?

No, it only depends on your cpu socket, not cpu model.

It could mean also 1 of the following:
- CPU is too new and the internal testing was done only on previous generation CPUs (in which case it's ok)
- cooler is not powerful enough for high-power CPUs (in which case no high-power CPUs will be in the list)

But usually the 1st applies because the 2nd means exceptionally low-cost coolers, intended as replacement for low-cost CPUs.

I guess it might help if I clarify by saying that the cooler is the Cooler Master Hyper 2012 Plus, and the CPU is the AMD FX-4100.

The Hyper 212+ supports AM3+ socket, hence you can use it for your FX 4100.

Thank you, the FX series is listed there on the website, but it wasn't on newegg. I didn't think to check on cooler master's site.
