i have an ati 4650 pcie card in my emachine t6520. last year changed the processor on the machine to the intel duo firstname.lastname@example.orgGhz and added a 650 watt psu. it has the original motherboard. i dont know if this makes any difference but the it has 2 4Mg dimm slots both being used. i play eve online and used to be able to boot up 3 characters without a problem. they have done several upgrades and now my pc struggles with 2. is this a graphics card issue or a pc issue or both?
online multiplayers benefit from a strong cpu and a good gpu.
does your motherboard support pcie 2 cards? you could replace your 4650 pcie with a radeon hd 6670 1 gb gddr5 vram.
imo you should get a whole new system.
If you want to pick up a video card you can do that and depending on how much spare cash you have you may want to invest in a whole new computer. If you don't play any of the high powered games then you can get a fairly inexpensive Pc.
You say that the 2 dimm slots are being used , how much system ram do you have and what OS do you have and is it 32bit or 64bit.
Here are a few choices for you to look at if you just want to upgrade the video card. You can of coufse go with lower priced cards if that is what you want to do and if you decide to later build a computer you can take the video card with you.
the game has probably just added some visual effects with those updates just go to your options in game and turn off the new effects.
im not sure what they are but if you turn down/off shadows, shader effect, anti aliasing, anisotropic filtering it will help. just play with all the settings until you find somthing that runs well and looks good.
