Hello. I am going to be building a budget Llano PC. I want to play games like battlefield 3 multiplayer on medium settings and civilization V. I would also like to be able to play the next couple of generations of bf games and all total war/rts games for years to come. Here is the list:

Approximate Purchase Date: ASAP

Budget Range: £500

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, surfing web, MS word

Parts Not Required: I need everything.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Well known UK sites.

Country: UK

Parts Preferences: AMD Llano A8 3870k, ati hd 6670, this case: http://www.amazon.co.uk/CiT-Mars-Tower-Gaming-Display/d... (I require bling)

Overclocking: The Llano I will OC to 3.57ghz.

SLI or Crossfire: Hybrid CF with llano and 6670

Additional Comments: The case needs a window and lots of bling.

My current part list:

CiT Mars Case @ £30

Xilence Xilent Blade Socket 775, AM2, AM3, AM2+ Heatpipe CPU Cooler @£17
http://www.ebuyer.com/164465-xilence-xilent-blade-socke...

Amd Llano a8 3870k @£86

http://dealforu.co.uk/epages/eshop330172.sf/en_GB/?Obje...

Amd hd 6670 (don't know which version to buy or where to buy)

320gb HDD (again do not know where to buy)

Optical drive: @£15

Power supply: @£40

http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Power+Supplie...

Windows 7 @£55

http://dealforu.co.uk/epages/eshop330172.sf/en_GB/?Obje...

Monitor: I am really stuck here. I'm not sure what resolution to get or what contrast ect.

RAM: I am told the Llano functions best on 1886mhz RAM but I think 1600mhz will do. I am also unsure which make is best and whether or not my MB will support it.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Should I go with intel? The only reason I first decided to go amd in this build is because I wish to overclock this system and to do that with ease on an intel machine i would need at least an i5 2500k and a p67 mobo which would be way way out of my budget considering that I need an OS and a monitor in that price as well.

The other reason why I'm thinking AMD is because I have a slight soft spot for them. ;)  I suppose I would get a better upgrade path with lga 1155 but I am still unsure.

Anyone get any ideas on the 6670, RAM and monitor? This is what I came up with:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0057Q4AGW/ref=asc_df_B0057Q...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WD-Western-Digital-320GB-Hard...

http://www.ebuyer.com/172947-aoc-931swl-tft-lcd-18-5-vg...

That comes in significantly lower that my budget(without GPU). I count around £360 if you include the odd p&p charge. Should I discard the LLANO part altogether and get a phenom x4 and am3 motherboard? Should I just use the money saved to get a 6870? Please could you help me as I am really stuck!

Couldn't help but notice that your listed CPU cooler does not specifically mention it supports socket FM1. You might want to verify that before ordering it.

I read somewhere that all coolers for am3 were compatible with fm1.
