My mom just got a new labtop and she has some software that was originally designed for Windows 3.1 but it ran in 98 alright. The problem is it doesn't run in XP. What I'm looking for is perhapse an emulator of either 3.1, 95, or 98 that runs in XP so that I can run this program on her new computer.

Windows XP is supposed to have compatibility built-in to the OS, with an update available from Microsoft (through Windows update). If you haven't tried it already, you can either acces it under system tools from the start menu or via the properties of the shortcut to the program.

Try running in compatibility mode. Right-click on the program and select Properties, then go to compatibility.
