I need some help making my mind up about a new vid card. I am looking at either the 6790, 6850, or 6870. I game on a consistant basis, but I am not overly hardcore about my gaming. Also I tend to only play rpgs and MMOs on my PC. (Currently I am playing SWTOR and Skyrim). I am currently looking at the following cards:
HIS 6870 IceQ - $160
HIS or ASUS 6850 - $140
HIS 6790 - $115

All those cards are on Amazon and I can have them on Wed. There is a HIS 6870 for $140 and a Sapphire 6870 fir $145 that are currently sold out, or else I would have already jumped on those.

Any opinions on the level of cards or brands are much appreciated. Thank you.

What's your power supply and CPU?

In Skyrim for instance the 6850 plays significantly better than the 5770 (which is the same chip as the 6770.) The 6790 is in going to fall in between the 6770 and the 6850 (as its name suggests) but closer to the 6770. Given no other constraints (CPU or PSU) you are going to get what you pay for when comparing those three cards. I'd splurge and get the 6870.

I currently have a AMD Phenom II 945 that is OC'd to 3.4 GHz and a 750 W OCZ PSU. I think I agree with you about bucking up and going with the 6870. If there is a decent difference between the 6790 and 6850, then the price between the 6850 and 6870 is small enough hat it is almost a no brainer. It really comes down to the decision to go with the 6790 or the 6870.

Thank you.

Looks like a good power.
I personally like SAPPHIRE Brand. I have it and I know at least 3 other guys have this brand when want to buy RADEONs.
