I5 2500k temps with hyper 212+ too high?

I know this question has been asked before, but my temps are the highest I've seen. I've seen posts stating ~63c @ stock clock with max load, but none as high as mine.

I recently bough a hyper 212+ and installed it. I applied AC mx-2 putting a perpendicular line across the heat pipes. I made sure the cooler and cpu were as clean as possible by using a new microfiber cloth and 90% isopropyl alchohol.

With prime95 max load/@ stock clock, the cores max out at 65/69/68/64c with everything else idling.

I also changed the cpu fan with the fan off this cooler "http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Product.aspx?C=1148&ID=1866"

What could be wrong?

Under load on my Intel® Core™ i7-2600K with the Cooler Master hyper 212+ I was in the mid 50s (didnt run Prime95 on it). So you would likely see temperatures like this just running a game.

yeah that doesn't sound right. my 2500k is at 4.5ghz/1.28v with a corsair a50 and max is 67-68 under prime. the a50 is much the same cooler. remount and rock the base of the cooler against the cpu until it feels flush.

The heatsink is seated properly and it doesnt rock back and forth but I can pivot and twist the heatsink.
I can guarantee all the screws and 100% tight but ill pull the board out tonight to take a look at it.

I'm probably gonna use the line method but this time put the TIM parallel to the heatpipes since that worked the best on my last cooler and gives decent coverage.

Any other ideas or things that I can try?

I reapplied the thermal compound last night using the extra thin parallel line method in between the heat pipes to fill the grooves, and the temps are around the same.
