Lenovo Q180 vs Acer R3610 (Intel Atom D2700 vs Intel Atom 330)

I currently have an Acer Revo R3610 - for most things it's perfect, but it really struggles with Plex HD playback, which I'm guessing is either down to the CPU or CPU.

I'm considering upgrading to a Lenovo Q180, but I'm wondering if the processer is really that much faster?

The only comparison I can find is here - http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/662/Intel_Atom_330_vs_Intel_Atom_D2700.html - but if I'm honest it doesn't mean a lot to me. The processor is newer, and has a higher frequency, but the cache is half the size?

Would be very grateful for any advice on whether it's a worthwhile upgrade, thank you :)

  1. Currently thinking about potentially getting a second hand original Mac Mini also, which has a 1.83Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo - I'm guessing that'd be far quicker than either of the processors above?
