Hi guys,

Two weeks ago I build my first PC. I was hoping that you guys could help me troubleshoot/fix a few things. Any help would be really appreciated so thanks for your time!

Here is my components list:

CPU: core i5 2500k

MOBO: asus P8z68v-3gen http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_i...

RAM: Corsair Vengeance CML8GX3M2A1600C9 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_i...

HSF: Coolermaster COOLER MASTER HYPER 212 EVO UNIVERSAL

HDD: Western Digital CAVIAR BLUE 500GB 7200RPM SATA3 16MB CACHE 3.5

PSU: Silverstone Strider Plus 750W ST75F-P

GPU: ASUS GTX 560 Ti DirectCU II Overclocked 1GB

DVD: Sony AD7280SGB DVDRW OEM http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_i...

CASE: ($109) Lian Li Lancool First Knight USB 3.0 PC-K9 Black http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_i...

Anyway, here are my three questions.

1) I am getting a fan speed error at boot on occasion.

I enter the bios and can see that my cpu fan speed is at 550rpm at startup some times. It is now idling at 780rpm after a few minutes. The threshold speed is set to 600rpm which is giving the error. Is 780rpm a good speed for the fan? Is it possible to adjust the fans idle speed so that it idles higher and starts up higher?

2) bios is only showing three fans.

In the bios only 3 fans are displayed when my cans has 3 fans plus the cpu fan. so i think there should be 4. The fans shown are cpu@780rpm, PWR_FAN1@950rpm and CHA_FAN2@675rpm. Is there supposed to be a 4th fan displayed and are these fan speeds about right?

3) In the bios my ram is displayed as 1333MHz when it is supposed to be 1600MHZ. What is the deal here?

Thanks again for your time and hopefully with your help i'll have everything running smoothly soon :)

Not sure what to tell you about all of that. However your RAM is showing at 1333 because you got screwed or the more likely possibility, that the CPU does not fully support 1600 and you will have to change the settings as such.
