just built a new pc but can not for the life of me decide on what gfx card to get
system specs

OS = Win7 ULT 64 Bit
Case = Cooler Master Haf X 912
CPU = i7 2700k @ 4.6Ghz / 1.3 Volts
HSF = Hyper 212 EVO
Mobo = Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z
Ram = 8Gb G.Skills 1866
PSU = Thermaltake TP 675W
SSD = Intel 320 Series 120Gb ( OS / some games )
HDD = 1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM
GPU = 8600GTS :( Still looking for the right upgrade

im only looking at Nvidia based cards, have had good luck with them

I mainly play "Lineage 2" its old and uses Unreal Engine 2

I normally buy from newegg but will most likly need to buy local this time. the only stores around san antonio tx to buy pc parts is Altex and Best buy.
The ones im looking at are
Option 1
Best Buy = $260 + Tax evga gtx 560 2Gb non ti ( i know the 2 gb wont help anything but its whats in stock locally )

Option 2
Best Buy = $299 + tax nvida gtx 560 ti 1Gb

Option 3
Best Buy = $ 279 + tax Pny gtx 560 ti 1Gb

Option 4
Altex = $299 + tax ( I get Millitary discount here i think its 5% off ) evga gtx 560 ti FPB 1Gb

i know online for those prices i could get a 570.

sofar option 1 and 4 are seeming best since i could use the evga step up program.

Lookin for any thoughts / comments

i guess anouther reason to buy local is now that i got evrything ut the gfx card i want it asap lol
and with the evga cards and the step up program it seems it doesnt matter the there over priced here since the step program goes buy the amount you pay as indicated on the sales recepit

also i was planning to get the card in the next few hrs since i got the day off

Buy in haste, repent at leisure.

With such a nice rig as yours, I think you should be looking at a GTX570/GTX580 class card.
If you can buy one of the 448 core GTX560ti cards, then that is ok, since performance wii be at near GTX570 levels.

The EVGA step up strategy comes with caveats:
1) It is for 90 days. You are unlikely to see the next gen cards arrive before then.
2) Yes, you get purchase price credit, but you will also pay at evga list price for the new card.
3) It may not apply to the new cards in which case, you would be better off to shop for a GTX580 initially.
4) You will need to return the old card and go back to your 8600GTS while waiting.
5) Wife will see the old card go and note the new box coming in.

Can you have a new card delivered elsewhere?

I would love to get a 580 but I'm worried to pay $500+ and the price drop in the next few months. I have thought about a 570 since there not much more than 560 ti

Also my monitor is only 1680 x 1080 22in. and unless I find a really good deal it could be awhile before I upgrade that.

Even thought about just getting a 550 ti or 460 for now and wait till either 6xx release or price drop on the current 500 series
