Hello!

I am planning on getting a new cooler for my AMD FX-6100, but don't know where to begin.

Liquid or air, doesn't matter.

Must be $40-75 ish

Must not be a huge monster of a heatsink, still needs to fit in my NZXT Phantom 410 case

Phantom: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Have fun hunting

*Note, do not talk about me changing my cpu as you will be no help to me if you do.

I was gonna recommend the V6 GT along with Havik. I don't remember why I didn't :p
Anyways, The V6 Gt might give you better temps than Havik. But at high speed its fans are quite loud(around 50db).
Also have a look at the Hyper 612

It's performance is quite similar to the V6 GT

For a little more money, you can get the ZALMAN CNPS10X Extreme
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
which will perform better than all the above coolers. It comes with a fan controller too.

Hyper 212 EVO.

Stock cooler will actually be fine for 4ghz.

I won't be insanely overclocking, just around 4ghz or so.

For moderate overclocking, the Hyper 212 evo is a good choice.

Maybe yes, if your ambient temps are low(20~25c), but it'll be quite noisy.

All i all I'd say get the Hyper 212 Evo, Great price to performance ratio, looks good & is fairly quiet. :)

My current temps are 40idle-53loadC on stock clocks, so I don't want stock cooler, even if those are fine. When it reaches 55 fan goes super loud and it gets very annoying to listen to.

My case has great airflow so that's not a problem.
