sooo im building my brother in law a computer and got a nvidia 550ti because it only required 400w. He currently has an Antec Truepower TP3-430.

the evga 550ti says it requires 24amps on the +12 volt rail.

antec 430 says it delivers 16A per 12v rail (there are 3)

I initally thought it would draw double the 16 because there would be two 6-pin power connectors on the 550ti, but there is only one....

do i need a new psu? and if so, any cheap recommendations with 24a on 12v rail? thanks

and cpu is a FX-8150 125w if that matters

The link returns bad request.

In anycase, I doubt the 550Ti will draw 24A on the 12V rail. It is a 116W component.

The 75W will come from the PCIe slot & the remaining 41W will be drawn from the 6PIN PCI or at worst scenario, 75W will drawn from the 6PIN PCIe connector which translate to ~7A. So your 16A on the 12V rail should be sufficient assuming the Antec is true to its specs.

I check the reviews for it & while it is not the best, it is not bad either... so it might just work with your 550 Ti.
