Installing Gigabyte Motherboard ERROR:500

I'm in the process of putting together my first build. All new components, with the exception of the HDD and RAM from my Dell Inspiron 560. When I put everything together and run the disk that came with the motherboard, I get the following message:

"Drive beyond the 2TB+ capacity
or Drive not found
or All primary partition in use
Error:500

I double checked that the HDD was plugged in, does this message mean that it's not working? I did accidentally ground the motherboard with an extra standoff when I first assembled everything, and had to get a new one.

I'm using the following components:
MB Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3
CPU Pentium i5-2500K
PSU Corsair GA600
Graphics Card EVGA GeForce GTX550Ti
a c 77 V Motherboard

Has the HDD been wiped clean?
What is it's capacity?
Also have you cleared the CMOS?
Try to clear the CMOS first and then try to boot up the rig straight into BIOS.
Customize it and try it with a Bootable OS disk in the ODD.
