I doubt it... Nothing will change if RAMBUS loses..
But when Rambus wins, prices for SDRAM and DDR SDRAM, and supporting chipsets will be slightly more expensive... but it's like less than $1 per module and chipsets, so you won't really notice anything different.
For Intel, I don't think they will stop supporting RDRAM. Their future main product(Pentium4)is basically custom-made for RDRAM.. and This trial has nothing to do with INTEL-RAMBUS stock option thing...
Ah but Intel's CEO has already admitted publicly that they regretted getting involved with Rambus. And while their current agreement requires Intel to only create Rambus compatible chipsets for the current P4s, the newer versions will not have this limitation. Intel will be free to create SDRAM and DDR versions of their P4 chipsets once the time limit on that contract is up. It also wouldn't surprise me if they've already started making them so they can be rolled out as soon as possible. I think Intel will watch the lawsuit and consumer opinion and then decide whether to continue supporting Rambus based chipsets.
I think it will hurt Rambus- hard. Their stock price will fall and they'll run out of money for R&D. I hope the fail miserably. PS2 isn't going to last long after the X-Box is released- so there goes 40 percent of their revenue. Rambus doesn't have a market to really compete in right now. No one is buying PS2's or P4's.
