How do i connect to wireless router when f1 key wont work

previously system was on internet explorer 8 and when turing on WAN only need to hit the F1 key, however since downloading internet explorer 9 and cd burner xp the f1 key isnt connecting me to wireless. any ideas of how i can turn my wireless back on

Try the F1 key while also pressing the Fn key which should be to the left of your spacebar.
