  1. If your motherboard can support it, though according to recent benchmarks the cpu isnt the best
  2. If u overclock its pretty good
  3. What cpu would u suggest
  4. What is your budget? And don't bother getting two gtx 260 cards you are always better off with a single powerful one.

Well I've been looking at the Athlon II X2 631 and it is very good value and performs better than the fx 4100 in benchmarks. It is a quad core at 2.6ghz.

Though no one can suggest you one until you tell us your budget, I saw in another thread that you was getting a phenom off your brother ?
  5. Yea tht cpu is ok my budget is $200 and can get a fx 4100 for $100
  6. well, there is no modern game that the FX 4100 will bottleneck. The question is, why sli gtx 550? for 260$ you can get the Radeon HD 7850 ^- and eliminate SLI issues in games and driver issues ... Thats what i would do :), unless you have 1 gtx 550 now and you dont have 260$ :0
  7. Or was going for a hd 7770
  8. well get the fx-4100 and a radeon hd 6850. The 6850 has more value and is the closest thing that meats your budget.

Do not bother with the new 7000 series unless you can really afford it which you can't, the 7770 isn't very good for gaming.

    So I'd get a fx-4100 with a hd 6850
  9. I can get a hd 7770 for $160
  10. Would a hd 6870 run ok
  11. imo, fx4100 (if you have one already) with a radeon hd 6850 or a 6870 is more or less a balanced combo. chances are an intel cpu will perform better with a more powerful card. for example:
xfx double d, $140 after mail in rebate.

  12. +1 The XFX HD 6870 paired with a FX-4100 make a nice combo.
    From personal experience.
  13. Well already have phemon x4 840 looks like have to get rid off it
  14. Well i tthink its better
  15. oh, i didn't know about your existing cpu. i'd stick with the phenom, still use the gfx card, wait and check out how piledriver cpus turn out and decide on upgrade. in my opinion, phenom to fx is not much of an upgrade for gaming, more like a sidegrade.
  16. If you already have a Phenom II 840 you may as well just keep it and overclock it, and spend the money on a GPU upgrade, as your most likely not going to see a worthwhile performance difference between the two CPU's.

I would keep the phenom and use the money to get a 6870.
  18. Keep the phenom and OC it. HD6870 or if you don't have to get a cpu - go for the HD7850.

  19. for gaming, gfx card has the priority. the cpu comes second. if you get the 6870 and save the money, you will have more money to upgrade to a better cpu/platform provided that piledriver turns out to be worthy of upgrading to.
  20. So if i get a hd 6870 or should get a hd 7770
  21. HD 6870, the HD 7770 performs around the level of a HD 6850.
Also, which PSU do you have?
  22. well im gettin a 600 psu
  23. the hd 6870 out performs the hd 7770

There really isn't one. The 560 non-Ti is just below it and the 560 Ti is above it.
  26. so what better gtx 560 or hd 6870
  27. Keep the Phenom.
  28. skitz9417 said:
so what better gtx 560 or hd 6870

    The 6870 (barely).
  29. yeah i keeping the phemon i wondering whats better gtx 560ti or hd 6870 at 1680 by 1050
  30. Honestly a 550ti or 7770 will play at those resolutions perfectly fine.

THAT would be the 560 Ti. Like I said above the 560 is just below the 6870 and the 560 Ti is above it.
  32. amuffin the hd7770 run the same as the hd 6870
  33. so stay with the hd 6870 because i getting it 1week
  34. Just stay with the 6870.
  35. how come becasue the hd 6870 out performs the gtx 560

Yes, just not the 560 Ti.
  37. i just wondering if two gtx 550ti would run good with my cpu
  38. with phenom ii x4 840, unlikely
  39. and gtx 560ti as u said is higher than a hd 6870

    Yep.

Well, besides the fact that it's used, that's not bad.
  42. what do u think i should get a hd 6870 for $130 off amazon
    or

    gtx 560ti $159
  43. @skitz: i didn't say that.
a gtx 560ti would indeed perform better than a 6870, would cost more as well.
then again, a radeon 7850 would perform better than a 560ti costing a few bucks more. non reference 560ti and 7850 are prices pretty closely. with 560ti (and 7850) you're moving into higher than $200~ price range.
  44. Good prices for both (I'm assuming that that the 6870 is used too, at that price), but the 560 Ti would be my choice.
  45. de5_5 roy in australia so i use ebay and amazon prices are diffent all the time
