Hello, I was wondering what all of you think regarding this topic.

I have an older(but decent) Alienware Area-51 7500, with a Nforce 680 sli motherboard, 4gb ddr2 memory, an Intel(R) quad core q6600 OC'd CPU @2800mhz, 700w PS, and two 9800 GT's in SLI.

I will replace this set up and give to my younger brother as i do every 3-4 years within the next year. I just started playing SWTOR and these 9800 GT's are struggling.

So for a decent upgrade that will play this game for the next year, would it be better to go with dual 550 ti's or a single 560 ti.

Thanks in advancve for any and all help regarding this matter.

I'd say a single 560Ti as it will certainly be less problematic. While it's true that in general two 550Tis should be faster, your CPU is a bit aged by now. In fact, if the CPU is the limiting factor it might be slightly slower with the two 550s simply due to the CPU overhead of dividing up the work.

Splendid
I would say don't do the GTX 550 Ti's if you want do all the top games. The 550's are good for strategy, puzzle, some arcade type, and some RPG. How ever they do struggle on the more GPU intensive game.

The reason I know this is I am a owner of two. They are not worth the money. You would be better off with one AMD 6870 or even two than the 550's. I hope this helps some and good luck to ya

SWTOR like Radeon so that being said a 6870 does a good job running it 60fps maxed 1080p
