Okay so recently I have been running into a BSOD problem and I really need help as games like Dirt3 after around 20 minutes I get the BSOD... I'll give my current specs versions and what I have already done to try and troubleshoot the problem below
Intel Core i5 2500k 3.3GHZ 1.2v
XFX Radeon 6870 x2 (One is a dual fan version and one is regular one fan) ((Driver catalyst 12.3))
Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3 Version F8
Crucial 120GB ssd (boot)
Seagate 1Tb 7200RPM (Storage like games)
OCZ Z-Series 1000w 80+ Gold Cert PSU
Windows 7 64bit
THINGS I've tried
-I recently got an ssd (last week) and did a fresh new install
Anything I should try, maybe it's a dead gpu? Dead crossfire bridge? flash bios?
*NOTE* When I was doing a fresh install and installing the AMD drivers, I randomly got the same BSOD (Atikmpag.sys) and I took out the card, put it back in, etc.... And eventually got it to work...
This is not a new install and I have been getting it the past 2 days. I think Catalyst 12.3 is to blame. It may not be compatible with 2 6870's crossfired. I updated the software before I left for the weekend and now its BSOD twice.
Looks like we will have to either wait it out or roll back to 12.1 (not sure about 12.2 but I know 12.1 did not have this issue) or wait for a fix
Installed 12.1 drivers, and tried to run dirt 3.... Still no luck although the game did not BSOD it just crashed, I immediately restarted the computer because if I tried to re-run dirt 3 I'm 100% sure it will BSOD I have no idea why though
I have been having the exact same problem with my setup with BF3 after about 20-30mins it BSODS , I also tried the rollback to 12.1 even though i wanted it to rollback to 12.2 and i got the same crash but no BSOD. then i tried to uninstall then install the 12.2 drivers but it auto updated them to 12.3 . gayshit really also have 2 6970s in crossfire with eyefinity 3x1. I think its just a issue with crossfire though i haven't tried disabling it and playing yet but I saw a post earlier that said that had worked for some.
Same problem here with a Sapphire HD6850 (single card) on a PC with Phenom II X6 1090T, MSI 890GXM-G65 mobo, 8 GB RAM, Windows 7 Home Premium x64. The problems started with Catalyst 12.3, but I thoroughly uninstalled the driver (including Driver Sweeper in Safe Mode) and returned to 12.2, still the problem persisted. The BSOD happens at the most unpredictable times, but I noticed I'm always using either the keyboard or the mouse (Microsoft Wireless Desktop 3000). Of course, that could be a coincidence, as my usage is very keyboard- and mouse-intensive, so I'm just very likely to be using either or both at any given time. It has happened a few times while using Mozilla Firefox 11.0 and MS Word 2010 (SP1, all patches and updates installed).
