According to the current canon cashback offer, you have to cut out the
barcode on the lens box and send it in with the vouchers / photocopy of
the receipt. However, cutting up the box may well reduce the resale
value of the lens (I have noticed on eBay that people seem to pay a
little more for a lens with a box - maybe assuming its been better
looked after etc etc).
Therefore, I am thinking of buying an empty box from a canon 28-135 IS
and using this instead of the original for the cashback. They appear on
ebay now and then (usual US). Anyone know if the box / barcode is likely
to be different if the box is a year or so old ?
