Force 3D settings for 2D Application

Hello,

I play a lot of 2D games, but with my graphics card (ATI Radeon HD 6870 1 GB GDDR5), it stays at only 300mhz, sometimes below, with 2D games, giving me no more than 20 FPS most of the time.

Is there any way, on how to force the card to think the 2D application is a 3D?

If there is no forcing it too, is there a way to prevent it from doing this?

You could use something like ATI Tray Tools to set a custom profile, this would be a set of clocks the card runs at for that specific game.
Im not sure if you can force max clocks in Overdrive.

@mactronix, Do you know where I can find a guide to do this? I tried it before, but it did not work well at all.

If you had asked a couple of years ago I would have known how to do it blind fold and could have walked you through it.
Unfortunately for you this W7 system dosent need the tweaking my old XP system used to.
