So I just purchases a Corsair h80 for my i7 920. And I'm getting High Temps? 48C... 0-10% Load? I was wondering was there a Plastic cover over the Thermal tape? I removed the Plastic the covered the copper but I didn't bother looking at the Tape. The block is on tight so I don't think looseness is a problem. Any other suggestions?

thermal compound is supposed to be pre-applied.

At this point I would triple check that both fans are plugged in and that the pump is plugged in also. Both fans are blowing out and the Pump is in performance mode.

If thats all good and working then I would remove & reinstall the waterblock. You can clean the cpu heat spreader and the waterblock copper contact and then reapply thermal paste if you want to but the included compound is pretty good.

I don't really know how to check if the Pump is in Performance mode?, When I look at CoreTemps it seems to me that the pump goes on and off. Cause I can sit here watching the temps go up and down. Ye it was Thermal Tape that the h80 came with.
