Hello,
when i have crossfire enabled the performance goes to *** in ULTRA, and im forced to play on MEDIUM Settings to have smooth gameplay. when i run a single card, it stays at around 25-35 on ULTRA 1920x1080.
so to recap, single card plays ULTRA decent framerate. crossfire its unplayable since the framerate dips down to like 8...and have to play on medium. What could the problem be? i have the latest catalyst drivers. and uninstalled them and ran the cleaner to remove everything and installed the latest as well. Anyone have any ideas?

OK UPDATE, it happens with 1 card too, just takes a much longer time for it to happen, getting in a heli triggers it really quickly. 2 cards it happens almost instantly.

Out of curiousity, what drivers are you using? I've been running 6870s in crossfire in BF3 for a few weeks now, but am using the 12.1 preview driver, and it's been flawless. I have known multiple people to have issues when using some of the older drivers however.

Ive recently been using the 12.1 preview drivers. I will do the temp checks to see if thats it. thanks for the replies.

MAX TEMP hits 85c (video card temps), cpu is 45c. i can keep it down if i make fans at a constant rate. but same thing. im uploading a video of my problem to youtube, ill add link when its up. on this map it doesnt stay for too long, but on others the lag stays for much longer periods of time.

try this:
1-uninstall ccc and profiles from control panel, shut down
2-remove second card,restart.
3- install latest ccc AND profiles, shut down.
4-install second card,start and recheck

also, you will have to turn some things down/off.

for a reference, here are my settings, this is what works great for me and my system.

i just reformatted cuz the drivers were causing me errors when uninstalling and i used these settings, seems to work for me now, i guess AA just kills these cards... =/ its a shame cuz it looks soo nice with AA lol still happens as soon as i touch AA but i guess its better than medium lol thanks

I had the same issue, from what i have read, using registry cleaners with an AMD based system causes more harm than good. They actually remove some things from the OS,I just reformatted last week also.

problem starts happening again... I actually put 12GB of ram and it rarely happens with everything on ULTRA. when i put 6GB back in, it happens again even with everything set to those settings as stated above.

You just removed the CCC not the whole AMD suite (motherboard, usb, display driver etc)?
