hey i have been working on this thing forever
ok
please tell me what you think
i have a 500watt psu
but the switch says 230v
so im guessing 230volts
now the thing is, i'm not sure if its my motherboard or my psu
the l.e.d. lights stay powered on, the fan goes for about 5 seconds
and shuts off
i am sure that it is plugged in correctly
also
the dvd drive does not work, because i tried using it
and it just wont open
so what do you think

I think you have a bad power supply.
If you give us the specs of the computer we can tell you what you need to buy.

Do you have it pluged into a 220-230 volt outlet. If not try switching the ps to 115-120 volts. that should solve your problem if I am understanding your problem correctly.

no i tried both
the 120v makes the fan turn on for about one second
and the dvd cd drive does not even get power
