Hi,
Trying to use the 283 (about 20 years old) with a Canon A70. Using a slave
unit. Getting yellow tint with this flash.
Color balance on the A70 is set to auto, as with any other flash.
Did the same with Canon 155A and light is "normal white".
Did anyone try the Vivitar with modern digital cameras? I've used this 283
with film and did not notice the yellow tint.

The Vivtar 283 is not connected to the Canon A70 in any way. Same as the
Canon 155A, which is about the same vintage.
Both are triggered by a small slave, which fires off the on-board flash.
The integral (on-board) flash is turned down to a min output, just enough to
trigger the bigger flash. This way only the big flash controls the exposure
with its own sensor.
