So I don't have alot of money, but I'm getting a new computer from my tech class when I complete it. I want to game pretty hardcore on it, I play alot of Starcraft 2 and Diablo III. Those are the game I'm building the computer for.

Here is the mobo that comes with the computer-

ASUS P8H61-M (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel H61 HDMI Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

Problem is, it doesn't seem very good. What is the best video card, and processor I could put into the board?

Looking to spend about no more than 500 bucks on a new proc, video card, and PSU.

nothing especially *wrong* with an H61. It has Sata 2 only and USB 2.0 only by default. It also won't overclock. It can take any video card on the market.

I'd suggest an i5-2400 for now, or the i7-3550 if ivy bridge is out by then.

8 GB of DDR3-1333 RAM

an HD7850

and a Corsair CX 500W or Antec HCG 520W Power supply.

Case, DVD, and hard drive to taste. The SATA 2 won't matter for any mechanical hard drive.

If you don't want to spend more than 500, you could go with an i3-2120, xfx 550w, ct2kit51264ba1339 ram, and maybe a HD 6950.

If you want to lean more toward the processor you could do like screwysqrl said and take a 2400 instead and scale the video card back to a HD 6850 or something instead.

Well if he gets Ivy bridge h'es gonna need to update that Motherboards BIOS, So unless he has a current 1155 CPU, a 1155 I5 is best bet. Also bro if you want to game hard core, don't expect 100 frames persecond ubber epic gaming rig out of a 400-500 quick fix. But when price drops become more recognizeable, i would snatch up one of the new 28nm graphics cards. they are looking to be 2-3 times more performance

That isn't what I heard. I just got done reading a benchmark test like 30 min ago that said blizzard offloaded as much as possible onto the video cards.

Just sayin.

I wish the game makers themselves would chime in on this stuff. The benchmarking world is so full of he said she said stuff.
