Hi out there,

I've had a system for some time now and looking at just upgrading my Graphics card, however my CPU might be a bit of a bottleneck with games such as BF3...

My current machine:

Q9400 @ 3.0Ghz
4GB Ram (DDR2 800)
PCI-E 2.0 motherboard
cooler master GX750 (recently bought)

I don't want to buy a full system now because my money is only coming through in December...
At the moment i have a GTS 250 512MB which is just about farting dust its so old...
PLEASE ANY HELP IS MUCH APPRECIATED!!! :D
Thanx in advance...

What's your budget? If you looking into the GTX 570 I'd wait till next week maybe monday and get the Radeon 7870 when it releases it's the same price as the GTX 570 but out performs the 570 and in some cases beat/performs at GTX 580 level.

I do think that CPU will be a bottleneck though.

Hello yo-ma-se-naai.

Your cpu will not bottleneck your system. You can clearly see it here:

Also I would love too the 7870 since it performs more than GTX570 and its in the middle between 570 and 580 (or 6970 and 7950) but AMD plans to sell it for $350 while Nvidia announce that will cut the price of 570 (which you can already find a good overclocked version with performance near 7870 at $309 ).

In my opinion you should wait (like aRodr1guez said) till next week and then you can see if GTX570 goes for less than $300, it should be a good deal if not you can think of 7870 too. Cost for performance after all is what matters and the best offer wins always.

ps: A chart for ULTRA settings at 1920x1200 all cards @stock speeds.

Dude....you're CPU is not a bottleneck....you're GPU is... that GPU can't keep up with the numbers that CPU is crunching.

I recommend a better gpu firstly and secondly a newer CPU like Sandy Bridge.

Why does he need a newer CPU if his isn't a bottleneck? He'd have to change his Mobo if he wants to go with Sandy Bridge. All he really needs to do is get a better GPU and the 7870 should do the trick for his price range.

Even if you didnt type how many money, (R3200 maybe?) I think I found two very good deals.

For gtx570: EVGA GTX570, Superclocked DS Edition R3,261. Clocked at 797Mhz this card is a beast for its price.

For hd6950: :/  AMD is really expensive at your country but a very good deal is Sapphire HD7850, Overclocked Edition R3,020. HD7870 starts at R4,200 which is 25% more than gtx570/hd7850 and I guess its out of budget. HD6950 is in the same price as 7850 thats why I am not suggesting it.

Hi Memnarchon
Thanks very much for your efforts... :D
I'm going to go with the GTX 570 that you suggested as your chart that you supplied, proves it's better bang for buck... :)

Again thanx am very impressed as to how much info you supplied, was expecting little more than a small war of green vs red in my post... :bounce:
