Hello,
I just built my first computer last week. I built it mainly for gaming, entertainment, and to operate programs like vmware for my classes in school. I though i would share my build for people looking for one on a budget and to hear any feedback on it. I know i may not have made the best choices for components, but i cannot complain. I am very happy with my build and i am very surprised by its performance. Here is what i put in it.
CPU: i5 2400 $190
Mobo: ASRock H61M-VS LGA 1155 Intel H61 Micro ATX $55
Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) $42
Graphics card: Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 6850 PCIE Video Card $150
Power supply: Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB 500W ATX12V $50
Case: Rosewill CHALLENGER Black Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case, comes with Three Fans-1x Front Blue LED 120mm Fan, 1x Top 140mm Fan, 1x Rear 120mm Fan, option Fans-2x Side 120mm Fan $55
CD/DVD:SAMSUNG CD/DVD Burner 22X DVD+R 8X $19
Hard drive: I used one out of an older machine. I will buy a new one when the prices of hard drives go back down, but lets just say i bought one for $75
Price without HD is $561
Price with HD is $636
Now i know people are not going to agree mainly with the Mobo and power supply, but i really have no need for the features the more expensive ones. I did not plan on overclocking my processor so that is why i decided to just go with the i5 2400.
So far my machine is running amazing. It has surpassed my expectations. I am able to play BF3 on Ultra at 1920x1080 at an average of 40 fps, although i do have to turn off the msaa. My cooling seems to be fine, after an hour of BF3 my GPU gets no hotter than 67 degrees Celsius. So i do recommend this build for anyone on a budget but i am also interested on feedback on what i may have been able to do better for the price. Thank you
