Recently upgraded to an Asus A7V/T-bird 1000. The machine is running smoothly only my Dvd player (Pioneer) doesn't work. This is strange because my Phillips CD-RW does. I've done all the correct installs (jumpers, cables etc). BIOS detects the drive and when I boot up in windows everything looks ok (properties, drive letter etc) but when I try to access a disc my explorer or windows commander freezes. It basically looks like there's no disc inserted. I've tried (almost) everything, DMA on/off, different BIOS settings, the works.
It's not defective I know that for sure. I've tried two similar drives on my rig and none works. I'm having some thoughts about the UDMA-2, my old CD-RW works so that has to mean something. Is there any other settings I can do with a A7V? Set up the drive manually eg.? If there is does anyone know what settings the drive uses... or anything else.
