100 is ok, if you can't afford something decent, or if you prefer mediocre.
Personally, I always go for what I can afford... and then drop down a notch.
I find the very top end over priced, so I either wait until prices drop a
little of the next gen comes along and then get the former top of the
line... saves around 20-30%.
For example, was in the market last year for a new vid card... been looking
at the 9700 Pro.. waited for the 9800 Pro to come along and got my 9700 Pro
for 215 (down from around 300).
Already seen some prices drops on the X800 XT now that PE is out, and the
X850 XT PE is also just around the corner. (It's out, but won't really see
retail until new year). You can now get an X800 XT for under 300 now... when
they hit 250 I'll grab one. Not enough performance increase over the PE to
justify the extra 50-70.
