by any chance does anyone know if u can just split the serial port on the UPS and connect two serial cables from APC and have the auto-shutdown feature work for both computer?

I don't have experience with that particular UPS, however...

If the software works simply by monitoring a single line on the serial port for HIGH or LOW, then it should work.

If the interaction between UPS and PC is any more sophisticated than that (example: UPS sends information on battery charge level), forget it.
