At welcome page xp disconnects ethernet cable

Before xp startup the Router shows a DSL and internet connecxtion. When XPO is started windows reaches the WELCOME windows at which point the eternet cable appears to be disconnected and trhe ROUTER logs off fron DSL etc. The Network shows the Netcard attempting to aquire an IP address but it shows the cable as NOT CONNECTED.

Is this a DOS virus and if so which one?

I am having the same problem. The connection works fine everytime on my laptop. I have to disable and enable (sometimes several times) in order to get a connection.

What do you disable and enable? I have disabled the networkcard, refreshed its driver and tried several start/ restores with no change!
