First time builder. I am pretty nervous about choosing parts.

These prices are what I can get at the local Microcenter. My parents will let me order from somewhere else, but I am thinking it is easier to buy local if it is only a few dollars more. We also have a Fry's locally.

CPU: Intel Core i5-2400 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor http://bit.ly/yrjrDx $149.99 Microcenter
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H61M-S2H Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard http://bit.ly/At3Lpe $74.99 Microcenter
Memory: Kingston HyperX Blu 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Memory http://bit.ly/wg20ea $29.99 Microcenter
Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive http://bit.ly/wLiZxH $119.99 Microcenter
Video Card: Zotac GeForce GT 520 1GB Video Card http://bit.ly/yr144F $57.99 Microcenter
Case: Cooler Master TC102 Mid Tower ATX Computer Case with 500W Power Supply http://bit.ly/AdOrvf $36.99 Microcenter
Optical Drive: Samsung 22X DVD±RW Burner with Dual Layer Support - OEM http://bit.ly/yWEp3i $17.99 Microcenter

$487.93

Any advice is appreciated.

ive had bad buys with zotac, customer service is crap. go evga imo. Or i have even had good experience with msi cards too. if that is your max budget then it looks fine otherwise. also have you checked out solid state drives? a bit more pricy but in the long run the best choice.

Mainly I will be learning Flash and photoshop and maya.

I guess I need to learn more about Video cards. Other than having at least 1 GB of memory what do I need to look for. What is the best brand? MSI?

Would a 60 GB solid state drive be big enough? I guess that could for sure run the OS? What size makes the most sense?
